SO AM I! To me, the French Connection is close to 2 years old or actually older because its humble beginnings like most of my designs, came from a previous design, the Big Bang. So it has evolved and come a long way since then.
Some may remember a prototype I had at a few festivals and the feed back I received from that kite, led to further development and then finally, early last year, turned into the FC.
The FC as actually finalized in May of last year but was scheduled for the 2006 season. A few delays, and then finally, here it is at last in the US....Right on time!
So I am very excited about the French Connection, its pretty much the only kite I fly anymore except for the new ones I am working on now. |

Thank you, Dodd, for getting our first batch of French Connections signed and delivered to The Kite Shoppe!
They arrived in time Friday for Scott to bring them to Lincoln City Indoor, where we had a booth set up in the Commons gym.
We had some free fly time on the beach Sunday after the event. Scotty Weider had a chance to fly it, although the winds were too light to get much time on it.
We have one demo FC flying around in Australia, and one demo in our kite bag at The Kite Shoppe....which is currently out on loan. It will be back in The Shoppe on Friday. If anybody wants to give it a go, just contact us at The Kite Shoppe!
Thanks again Dodd!

Dodd,Chris,
Had a brief fly of the FC today with thanks to TKS for organising a demo to us down under , until the wind died.
Great kite, you guys have done well.
Looking forward to the arrival of mine to get some real air time.

WOOHOO!
I received my signed FC last night. #33
I had to wait until the wife went to bed to assemble it
It's bigger in person than what I envisioned via the photos!
Weather permitting, I'll get my first chance to fly it this afternoon. _________________ Spence

number 18 arrived this week. Spend a few hours with it today...one hour this morning (winds 10-20) until I snapped the spine. My fault, gust of wind and a nose plant.... headed home, had lunch, had some P200 and some 2400 so made the repair and back out for a couple more hours ( winds better: 8-15).
I've added heat shrink to both the Upper and lower spreaders to keep them in. Looking for some dorsal caps for the nocks. I've lost the orginals probably because I could push them on all the way.
Even with the tinkering, It's a great kite. I'm not an accomphilshed pilot, but I enjoyed the axels and performed the most flic-flacs and longest stall slides I've ever done.
Thanks Dood and New Tech..It's a wonderful kite..really enjoyed watching develop over the last year or so..
..Say Hi to Cassie...met her at the Smithsonian Kite festival in D.C. last week with my daughter Katie. |
