New Tech Kites

this is my first sport kite, and what a beautiful kite this Big Bang Pro is!

i have just a couple questions that i hope you all can help me with:

1) there are two spreaders, but three sets of connectors on the leading edge. there are smaller [the same size as stand-off coonectors] connectors between the upper & lower spreader connectors. what are they for?

2) are the outside stand-offs supposed to bow out or in [against the fabric]?

3) can anyone please give me a clear explaination of how to adjust and set the Dacron loop that's next to the leach line loop?

4) the Connector Protectors fall off. the direction say to glue them if you're not going to break down the kite. now, if i do plan to break down the kite each time i fly it, what should i do with the Protectors? also, i'm not clear if they are supposed to be positioned along the outside of leading edge, the inside, or front or back.

5) and finally, are there any tips to safely packing up this kite, so i don't damage it?

I think you are describing the leading edge tensioning loop? If so, put the end of the loop around the wing tip nock. Then pull the other end (which is pulled through the short sewn loop on the fabric wingtip) of the Dacron loop back to the nock and use the tied knot there to set it. This will tension the leading edge and add a bit of bow to it.

4) The Connector Protectors fall off. The direction say to glue them if you're not going to break down the kite. now, if i do plan to break down the kite each time i fly it, what should i do with the Protectors? also, i'm not clear if they are supposed to be positioned along the outside of leading edge, the inside, or front or back.

These CPs are not important unless you are doing slack line tricks. And even then, they are not necessary. I would not glue them to the frame because of your need to break down the kite. The CPS are supposed to along your flying line to slide more easily along the leading edge and not get snagged by fittings, etc.

5) and finally, are there any tips to safely packing up this kite, so i don't damage it?

Be carefully pulling spars out of the leading edge fittings so as not to pop a hole in the sail.

yoyo stoppers point upwards(e.g. towards nose).

the leechline(white) has a loop at the end of it this goes in the nock of the kite..the black darcon goes through the nock also then the Rubber End Cap goes on the nock this helps keep everything together..heres a pic..

and yes the outside standoffs(white ones) bend outwards away from the sail..its very very important that that standoff is position about 1.5-2 inchs away from the leading edge..

About the outer standoff's
I am thinking that if the standoff is bowed out ei: away from sail, it distorts the trailing edge and if bowed in toward the sail it keeps the trailing edge straight and it should be straight. I am not positive this happens with the Big Bang, it has been awhile since I have had that one out of the bag. Check it out with kite assembled. If it does not distort the trailing edge it does not matter which way the outer standoff's are positioned.

Hi Chapin,

The bag is long so you do not have to collapse the leading edge to fit the kite in.

hi

I am a new "pilot" too

I have a very quick question.... the kite is built very strong, but i cannot help myself to wonder (as i keep driving it nose down into the ground), where can i find replacement parts for my BB Pro. I am talking about the Carbon Graphite Frame. What are the specific part # or specs for the Leading Edges and the Bottom and Upper Spreaders??

Hopefully somebody has this info.

Your local kite shop is a good place to start. The Big Bang is framed with P200 Skyshark rods.
