The Pyro XS is really a great kite for the money.
I flew it in around 20 mph winds and it would do nice axles in the middle of wind window.
Rising fades, no problem
I would recommend this kite to anyone, expericenced or beginner.
It didn't oversteer and tracks streight which a beginner would like.
I really enjoy flying this kite.
If you have this kite and it doesn't performe as stated move bridle 1/2 inch down and it will fly like is should.
This kite is a winner.

i took my new pyro out this weekend to a park by san francisco bay. it was a gift & the first kite i've flown in 10 years! it was spectacular- fun & beautiful. And musical! unfortunately, it made my dog crazy and after i crashed it, he jumped on it, splitterin one of the two built-in spines along the trailing edge. i'm not sure if i have the terminology correct but its the carbon dowel thingie that pushes the trailing edge back (stand-off?)

where do i order a replacement part?!? thanks in advance!

Hi Applez4free,

Welcome to the board. I'm glad you are enjoying your Pyro XS. It sounds as if your dog munched your standoffs. I remember the first time a dog tried to eat a kite I was flying...the kite nor the dog was mine and I thought I could repair all the nasty sail damage with sticky back ripstop tape. I was mistaken! Sorry, I've digressed.

Send me an email with your mailing address and we'll sort this out.

Best regards,

Chris

My Xs has broken two lower spreader bars. They keep breaking where the stop is glued to the spreader about 1 1/2 inches from the center ferrule. I've flown kites for a long time, and it isn't related to misuse or flying in wind that is too strong. What's the problem, I'm going to go broke replacing them every 10 minutes?

I'm having the exact same problem with my new Pyro XS. I am impressed the way it goes up & stays up in extremely low wind & fly's great & is a beautiful kite to watch. But as soon as the wind picks up to 10 mph or more....SNAP goes one of the lower spreaders, right after a loop & you can watch it happen in the air. Mine are breaking right at the ferrule just below the stop. Heeeelp !!!

OK, don't flame me, but.........

I've had the lower spreaders come off of the spine sleeve, but I've never ever on any kite had a lower spreader snap.

Well - OK, once my 10 year old Aggressor Pro's lower spreaders began dissentigrating. One split.

How do you snap a lower spreader??? My heavy handed tricking (and I'm a novice to be sure), my nose stabs - there's a nice trick, and my 11 year old have never come close to even splitting the spreader!

How's it done? I can see an LLE snap, but not a spreader. But I've tip stabbed the thing and not broken it.

The only way I can imagine the LSpreader snapping is if the gum-band that comes with it is not on - or not on correctly.

Enlighten me... I don't understand how it can happen. And no, I'm not saying it doesn't happen - as I said, I'm a novice... but I've never seen one.

BTW, I love the kite - a bit sluggish, but I'm currently searching for the bridle adjustment instructions I've seen on board here to correct it...

Al
There was some discussion about this issue some time ago. I think the answer was that some of the spreaders used, weren't up to NT's specs. Not only did they fix the quality of the spreaders, but they sent out some ferrels to make the spreader solid. The ferrule was about six inches in length and fit inside the spreader on the Center T end. I still have my Pyro XS with the stock bridle! Everytime I fly it, the kite still amazes me. It's probably the most beat up thing you'd ever see, practically no leading edge material left, but it's still one of my fav's. I'd buy a new sail for it but a sail would probably cost more than a new kite. I have kites that cost ten times more, that aren't nearly as good as this one.

New Tech has new loaded spreaders for the kite. Email them and they will send you new ones.

To fix sluggish response, adjust pigtail 1/2 inch down from factory mark.
This adjustment makes it fly with more response and tricks faster.

Let us know how things work out.

I have experienced the same weak point of the Pyro XS as the others. I love the way the kite flys, but don't pull it too hard in a turn, or fly in over 10mph wind.

Just an update...

I contacted New Tech Kites tech support about the problem with the center spars, and they sent me out some modified replacements. James in the support department is the best ! He helped me out with my Big Bang a while back, too.
I have 4 New Tech Kites now, and I can't say that I've flown any better. Now if I could just get a Firestorm to round out my quiver...
Keep up the great work, and THANK YOU !
