Actually they are the same kite at this point. Both are made to the same specs. The only difference is that the Big Bang pro's sail material is .5oz polyester, the Big Bangs sail is 3/4oz nylon.
Whats the difference?
Polyester does not stretch the same as Nylon which stretches over time and stays strectched, where Polyester stretches some, but then goes back to near its orginal shape.
Polyester is more expensive, along with the cost of Mylar which is also used on the Big bang pro.
The feel is different though, the Big Bang Pro, or polyester version compared to a nylon version, is normally more responsive of a kite, a tad lighter in weight and is able to fly in slightly less winds.
The cost difference? Well that depends where and who you buy it from. But no matter the cost, both kites are very affordable considering what is included on both kites as the following list shows.
Big Bang and Big Bang pro includes:
Flight School Training DVD
Yo Yo kit factory installed. (yo yo gliders, Stoppers.)
VBW kit, 3-10 gram weights
nock covers
100% spectra Infinity RTF
and more...............................
If you have any other questions, I will be happy to answer them the best i can and if I cant, our knowledgable team at NTK can!
Sincerely
Dodd Gross

I own both, for me personaly, the pro respnds and flys better. But you cant go wrong with either. They are both very forgiving kites. I have nose planted the pro more times than I want to admit with no problems. And it tricks for me.......just whisper to it what you want,,,, _________________ ken

I have both too (the BB being #88 of the signed group thanks to the generosity of NTK and GWTW) and I have to say that there really is not much to choose between the two, especially for the non-hardcore flyer. For the occasional flyer - just pick the one you like the look/price of.
I like the kite quite a lot. Even in my kitebag which includes some "big name" kites, it's the most reliable kite to roll up and lock into that move.

Christian, Pass the extra DVD on to another pilot who needs it, or you can sell it. I think passing it on would be a cool thing to do. You really can't ask for the price of these kites to come down any more.
North Coast Wind Power has the BB pro for $99.00 and $9.00 shipping.
I bought four kites from them and they all came within three days of when I sent payment (eBay store). _________________ Mario de Angelis

Hi Ken, this is not GWTW anymore, I mean, you can talk about anything, any shop, suggest any shop etc....
And we support GWTW, there are a great customer, but we have lots of customers and support many kite shops.
As far as ebay goes, you are probably buying used and you always take a chance....I suggest that if you are considering buying from Ebay, first check with your local kite shop and see what the cost difference is.
I have a music store near me, and I always check there first before I buy anything, and even if it costs more there, if its not too much more, I figure I am paying for personal service, and I get that from that shop so I usually end up buying there. And since I do buy there often, I now get a discount (that you would get from a kite shop too probably) that usually covers the cost of taxes.......
Best of luck to you
Sincerely
Dodd |

Well, if I can talk about anything, what I meant was, a little over a year ago when I tried starting up a kite shop., when I placed my first order with New Tech, I was told not to be caught selling them on ebay for less than suggested retail. So I stayed honest and did not do that. However, I see a lot of people doing it, have been doing it for years, and still seem to get their kites from NTK. Just thought I would throw in my two cents worth. _________________ ken

Hi Ken,
We don't do any price fixing, but we do try to discourage people from selling new products at deep discounts. Ultimately, it is not in anyone's best interest. It hurts retailers that are promoting the sport and devalues the perception of value in the product. If too many retailers suffer and close shop, where will all the new enthusiasts come from?
Chris

I agree with everything you say, I have no gripes. I am an itty bitty really tiny dealer. I chose to deal in NTK's only. I didn't have too, I have the cataloges from all the others as well, but I beleive in supporting and standing behind what you sell. To me you guys are the best at that. Thanks for the answer though. To get this back on track, ED......your Big Bang is on the way, depends on your Canada customs as to exactly when, but now you know where to post another Ed review after you get it!! _________________ ken

The store I listed has the Big Bang std for much more than most shops (including those on eBay). They sell the Big Bang std for $90- most shops sell it for about $84- and one eBay store starts the bidding at $79.99 with a buy it now of $84.99. All of these kites are new. I know, because I got a NEW PYRO XS from one of the eBay stores for $39.99. I have bought 4 kites from this store and I will buy my Techno from him too (Just waiting on the right color). _________________ Mario de Angelis

I can understand why you would buy it, but what I think Chris is saying, is that if there is a lot of people out there selling a kite for 10 or 12 dollars less than a shop, he loses a sell, has to drop his prices, cant pay his bills, and under he goes. The Pyro XS should retail for around 49.95 to 51.00 or so. So the next time you buy that cheaper kite off of ebay, ask yourself what you are going to do when you need parts because your local shop closed? Order them off the net and pay shipping and wait a week.....heck I could jump in right now and offer you a Techno for less than the guy on ebay will sell it to you for, but I wont..... _________________ ken

There's a kite sop right here on the mountain and I can get my kites at cost there if I wanted, but I really don't like the guy (LOL), so I pay more on eBay and have the kites shipped to my P.O. Box. I buy from shops too when I find a deal, or if I can't find it on eBay. The last kite I bought for myself was from Colors on the Wind. _________________ Mario de Angelis
