Note: The white panels have bits of reflective mylar in the sail - like our Techno Trance model - it does not photograph well.

Hmmm. A bit busy for my own tastes (especially that last one). I normally like designs that are more economical and elegant.

While I wouldn't advocate imitation, I'd think about the FC graphics: On the one hand the FC has a look that is unique, disctinct, and aesthetically pleasing, and it achieves its effects not by being loud or overt. The person who came up with the FC design is a design genius IMHO.

I should qualify this by saying I'm the kind of guy who is actually intrigued by the idea of a green, orange, and pink kite .

By the way, what kite is this--something that is already in production but which you are trying to update, or is this a new stunt kite being developed

Really like the graphics. I might just have to get one for myself. As the previous question was, What kite is this? New or old?

Thanks for the comments.

The graphics pictured above are on a Pyro platform. We are thinking of using this look on another kite - perhaps the French Kiss...a smaller version of the French Connection.

I've got to agree it's not exactly to my tastes, I tend to lean toward more simple geometric designs.

I honestly don't like the rainbow version at all. The yellow pops against the red, but is lost against the white. The blue is lost against the purple.

On the blue and red one, I think the center shape (white) is more visually dominant than the graphic, and it's kind of an odd shape at that. Honestly, probably the most striking version of this would be a one-color kite with a high contrast one-color graphic.

I think the concept of trying some "tribal graphics" theme may have some merit, but it could use some refinement. I could see something like this working at the Pyro level, but less so at a higher end kite.

This may be veering away from the main topic a bit, but I was thinking something along the same lines of tribal graphics, though something more elegant and economized.

And then I got to thinking about a number of different historical and cultural traditions that have developed some rather compelling and destinctive art based on elegant geometrical patterns. Gothic stained glass windows and architecture; the patterns of Islamic art; Indian mandalas; etc. I'm not aware of any kite makers who have tapped into these many and varied "design traditions" in a focussed way . . . but I'd have to imagine that there is a rich (and, for the kite world, largely untapped) mine of ideas there. And it might make for some rather distinctive and unique looking kites.

When I saw those graphics designs, the first thing remind me of my local native people - Sarawak Iban (also called Dayak) warrior. The graphics look a little (very little) close to their wooden sheild. It just remind me of that, doesn't means look like... But I like the design, not bad. If, just black and white will be nice... to me. Just two colours...

Here some graphics on Sarawak Iban warrior's wooden shield that I talk about...
See the shields at the back of the ladies?

And the closer look...

BTW Chris, is that French Kiss... smaller version FC an UL? When will it in production?

Eric

Eric.

The French Kiss is a 6 1/2' sibling of the French Connection. The smaller wing Kiss complements the Connection very well! Not a ul.

Chris
I like where you are going with those type of graphics for some model, but I would like the Kiss to look like the Connection cause...well,... there is that connection.

Another thought: With a name like "French Kiss" you might want a design that suggests something romantic , sensual , even erotic . Nothing explicit mind you , but some design has smooth flowing curves, maybe curves intertwining, or something along those lines.

I love the flowing lines and the fact that is a pleasing change from some of the more geometric patterns you often find. The tribal design is a wonderful direction to go for a unique kite. When and or where can I get the rainbow one?
