There's been much discussion of which kites are best for beginners and best for tricks, but I've not seen much about which New Tech kite is the best for precision. By a precision kite, I mean one that tracks straight, does smooth arc, sharp turns, and excells at non-slack line tricks like performing rock steady stalls and smooth slides. (Again, exclude the Desire UL--I'm thinking about standard wind conditions).

As a new beginner (quickly moving towards moderate) myself. MY first and current kite is the Detonator. I do have to say that it is a fast and precise kite. Definitely not good at slack line tricks. Ive been able to pull off fades and half axels on an E2 and Mirage/Hypnotist. But the Detonator just wont do those. It is good at stalls and fades without a doubt.
This is all just my personal experience and opinions. Im sure others will chime in with thier suggestions soon. |

rboerth,
The Techno would fit the bill.Straight lines, sharp corners, snap stalls, slides are there.
Hang in there cause the French Kiss has all that and a bunch more!
I was supposed to send my proto down south were you guys were at Outer Banks but did not get the email to do so until Friday and it was to be there Friday and unless I drove there it was not going to happen.
Chris,Troy and company fly bone stock Technos in comp and they would have more info on the Techno than anyone.
ps....GREAT JOB WITH YOUR LATEST COMP!!!!!! _________________

The Techno is a good choice for precision, especially if you adjust the bridle position, where the top/nose of the kite leans forward slightly, which takes away most overstear.
The French Connection is also very good, if the bridle is also adjusted (nose forward), remove all of the weights (or only one weight added), and remove the roll cage.
The Techno will save you a few bucks versus the cost of the French. Although, I prefer the sail graphics on the FC over the Techno.
You can't go wrong with either of them. _________________ Troy Gunn - TKO Sport Kite Team - USA

Oh.... I don't know, the "Trance" color scheme is pretty sharp on the Techno

I also must agree that one of the best Precision kites in our arsenal is the French Connection.
There are mods now that you can do for the FC that will enhance this kite. its tricks and its precision.
Look for a sticky soon under the subject line "French Connection Mods"
