I'm pleased to report that #37 reached its final destination (Yeah!) All I can say at this point is WOW! Nicely Done!! Can't wait to go fly!!!
During assembly, I noticed that the inner standoff (closest to the spine) has 3 hole locations. My FC came with the inner standoff in the center (middle) hole location.
Also, on my FC, it appears that the yo-yo cage will only fit when the inner standoff is located in the hole closest to the spine (max distance between standoffs). So, I haven't assemble the role cage. No big deal for me, I'm new to the sport and work mostly on my rudiments; clean figures, stalls, side slides and axles. I expect a bit more time before I'm fully utilizing the role cage feature, but I'm pleased the FC has it for when I'm ready.
I assume the inner standoff hole locations allow the pilot to adjust the sail for different wind / flying characteristics. What is the effect?
Is the inner standoff required to be in the location closest to the spine to utilize the role cage?
THANKS!

Hi JDB,
The extra holes in the sail are for fine tuning flight characteristics of the kite.I cant really explain the differances but get some time on the kite then move them around and you will feel what happens.I pretty much leave them in one postion and move them in or out on the spreaders depending on the winds and what I am looking for at that time.
You are correct about the cage only fitting with the standoffs one certain way. I only use the cage when the winds are up and especially gusty. You wont need it in normal winds,I have done up to 4 wraps in nice winds without the cage and the sail did not deform at all flying wrapped. Some have said the kite handles different with the cage on and I imagine in lite winds it would feel different but using it in bigger winds as the cage was made for, I never felt any ill effects on the FC while in use. Keep the cage hardware in your bag and when its time and you need them, put them on.
Hope I anwsered your questions good enough.Let us know how your first flight goes. _________________

| They will fit, the connectors that attach to the standoff do move and it is adjustable. |

winged v - thank you for your reply! Can't wait to put some time on the FC!
Based on Dodd's reply, I tried adjusting the width of the stand off spacer. I was able to get one spread further apart, but could not get either any narrower for the other inner stand off positions. They're both perfect for the inner stand off position closest to the spine (max distance between the stand offs on each side). That will work fine for me.
I'm still interested in hearing Dodd's view of how the flight characteristics change relative to the inner stand off position on the French Connection.
