| I recently received a NewTech 9 foot delta that I'm having problems figuring out. I know, deltas are supposed to be easy, foolproof. There are no sleeves for the struts on either leading edge. I'm wondering if there was a sewing problem? My old delta had dowling permanently sewn into the leading edges so there was no problem. It came with 8 struts (6 long, 2 short . . . 4 with connector sleeves and all but one has a plastic cap). I guess I need advice on how to assemble this delta! Please advise. Thanks. Mick |

Hey Mick,
Which model delta do you have?
If you look at the lower leading edge on each wing. There you should find a 2 inch section that is not completely sewn. The same sort of slit can found at the bottom center bottom wing where the spine is inserted.
Start with the spine. It will be in two pieces and it will be the easiest to determine which spars belong there. The leading edge spars are about 3/4 the length of the leading edge, also in two pieces.
I hope this helps.

Hey Chris; Thanks for your timely advice. Your reply was spot on. Can't tell you which model, though. It's a 9 ft. delta and the slots are right where you said they should be (I thought they were defects!). Thanks again.

Mick,
Another important issue that you need to know about the placement of the leading edge spars/rods, if you haven't already figured it out. When you have the kite assembled and are ready for flight, make sure the leading edge spars/rods are slid all the way down to each wing tip, and not slid up to the nose/top of the leading edge. Most all single line delta kites are designed to fly that way. _________________ Troy Gunn - TKO Sport Kite Team - USA
