As many of you may or may not know, I designed the Jam Session way back in 1995. Funny, it turned out to be one of the most popular and most famous sport kites in kiting history.

The reason is that it appealed to almost every skill level of sport kite flier. It was the right price, and it was the first sport kite to include spectra line and Instruction video. More importantly, if had a flying style that was appreciated by just about everybody! It was one of the most copied sport kites ever produced and its design continues to influence current designs today!

The Jam Session then became the Rainbow Jam when I moved to another manufacturer. I changed the design slightly to accomadate the rising skill level of the sport.

So with added precision, trickablitiy, and a better quality sport kite, the Rainbow Jam continued to sell well around the world.
Then I moved on to New Tech Kites.

I was with New Tech a couple of years and did not really want to do a Jam again, but then the whole retro thing began. Basically modified 10 year old designs became popular, and the Jam was from that era.

So the new jam was born and of course I made modifications and it has done really well for NTK.
But now a few years later, its time to move on to the next phase of the jam, and that is the Techno.

The Techno is new for 2005. The first Techno prototype was designed and made last spring, over one year ago. Testing continued until its production date earlier this year.

A New jam flier will feel the Jam within the Techno, just a trace, because the hard pulling big input characteristics of the jam are gone.

With increased precision over the New Jam, the Techno is a more controllable, more stable, more forgiving kite than ever before. One of the factors that contribute to this is the fact that we have used a frame usually resereved for $200 plus sport kites in the Techno. The Techno uses the best frame available, making it one of the best investments in sport kites today.

Compare the Techno with any other sport kite in its price range (MSRP $80) first and look at the frame specs.

The Techno's frame is a P-200 skyshark frame, known throughout the kiting industry as one of the best and most durable wrapped graphite sparts on the market. A 6mm frame does not compare to the P-200.

If the other kite you are looking at for the same or even higher price states it uses .2300 (6mm)pultruded carbon or even solid carbon in the frame(even worse) , stop reading, buy the Techno for that reaon alone.

The Techno was designed as the Jam was, for all skill levels.
By simply adding a Weight and yo yo kit, you can turn this tame kite into a radical trick machine you can grow with.

We are very excited about the Techno, there are even rumors about the Techno being voted for Best Kite of the Year from the KTAI. Very Happy

Any questions?

Hi Mario,
The Techno will go on its back in lighter winds without weights. Just like other kites that you have to coax it into a fade by changing the way you fade slightly, the same must be done for the Techno to coax it onto its back, once there, it will spin easy.

About 20 grams of weight on the tail, the end of the spine, as designed, will lay it right back up to 12mph pretty easily.

Once they have this stable kite, begin to train with the DVD, learn, grow, then it will come time to learn pitch tricks. Sure they can go out and get there next one, a Big Bang or French Connection for example, but I wanted them to just be able to call up the store they bought it from and say, ok, send me the upgrade kite. And for I dont know yet, lets say $30 they can get the whole thing including DVD or $15 for the Yo yo and weight kit, that part is still under developement but should be ready by summers end.

So one kite to start and grow with. The Techno!
Chris, can we get some Techno Pics up here????

hope that helps

But since its so inc

Oh yes, we do plan on making the weights availalbe in a kit. I designed them to fit on the Skyshark P-200 Graphite spar.

The Aluminum Center T will also be availble for upgrades along with a yo yo kit.

There will be an upgrade kit available by next season, maybe before for the Techno which would include Yo yo stoppers, gliders, Weights and Alluminum Center T.

Hope that helps

Now that's one of your whoppers. I think that "Upgrade Kit" will go over great with everyone who ever looked twice at a Techno.

Dodd another question, whats the size of the techno? is the wingspan really only 81" ?? thats pretty much the same as the Pyro XS so in other words the Techno is almost the same size as the Pyro XS? please reconfirm this. (i thought the techno was a 7ft kite.)

It is just 3" short of the 7' mark. That maks it a 7 footer in my book.

Ed ed ed, I thought we established that on the other forum

The pyro xs is just short of 7 and the Techno is 7.
The problem here is that I personally do not measure and record wingspans which I will be doing for now on.

There has been as you know, some differences between catalog, forum statements and website, but Chris and I promise to get this straighted out and consistant, right Chris?

we did!? uh oh i must have forgotten.. (i knew that vodka did something to me ).

well im very glad your going to record the wingspans, i've seen so many difference with specs not only on the NTK website but on other online kite shops, for example theres one online kite shop(forgot the name) that stated the Pxs was 72" wingspan lol and pretty much everything else was the same as the Pstd. glad you guys are going to fix this Very Happy Very Happy

I thought my New Jam would be 87" according to the site but when I set it up it measures 81" wingtip to wingtip which is fine cuz it's still a big kite with lotsa pull.

So I'm guessing my Techno...on the way...will be pretty close to the same size as my New Jam then EH?

this posts an interesting question that i myself have been pondering for a very long time..

when manufacturers or kite makers make a dual line kite and show the specs of it especially the height and wingspan, do they measure it when the kite is unassembled or fully assembled!?!.. i ask this and i will use the Pxs as an example.. the PXS has a very big wingspan when its unassembled.. lay it out flat on the floor and open the kite fully, the wingspan is pretty big but then when you assemble the kite, with the tension and curved leading edge and the depth of the sail it "shrinks" the kites wingspan down..... so the question again do you guys measure wingspans etc when the kite is assembled or unassembled...
