|

Hey Dodd...
Where on the NTK site can i find the specs for my burner 3.6?
I was at Wildwood last week and could not resist the temptation to grab my first power kite. The largest that was in stock was the 3.6 ... and was promoted to me as a "trainer" kite... well - I just spent 7 days on the beach at Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and can attest that with the right conditions this is not a trainer... it will give you a stronger handshake and you will wear the heels down on your shoes, sandals and feet... but I want MORE power and would like to compare the complete specs on the entire line of Ballistics kites.
Thanks

Hi, glad to see you added a newtechkite to your collection and had a good time with it.
The numbers of course indicate the size in square meters, what other type of info are you looking for?
The Ballistics can be flown with either a bar or quad handles.
There are 4 sizes in all, you have the 3.6, there is a 4.9 and 6.3 for traction kiting. Since most of us on the staff at NTK are buggiers and use these kite for that, we can answer any buggy questions pertaining to the ballistics, for example what to use in which winds etc.
So ask away

What wind ranges are proper for the various models?
What is the minimum model to be used with true tracton action?
Would the 3.6 function for use w/ a buggy?
Are these specs not available on the NTK site?
When shopping for new toys it would be nice to compare the goodies.

Sorry, I am not in charge of the Website or what is on it, but i can tell that we buggy with all sizes of the ballistics using quad handles.
Of course the smaller the size, the more wind you can fly it in so here is a break down from my own experiences with the ballasitc power foils.
2.3, if you want to buggy, the winds need to be very strong, over 20mph and the traction surface must be solid sand or grass to really get moving. This is a small kite, but dont let the size fool you.
Your 3.6 I have buggied in hard packed sand many times in stronger winds too, probably in the near 20s or so
I like it more than the 2.3 because it is slower, and you can always depower. now of course all of this also depends on your wieght, if you are below 200 lbs, you will have no problem buggying with the 3.6 in anything over 15mph
the 4.9 is for around 12mph or higher if your skill level is higher, I use the 4.9 the most for most wind conditions but I like power....
6.3 well you can buggy on hard packed sand in as little as 8mph and handle up to around 12 or maybe more, I know I can.
These are not official specs, these are just my own
