I got to fly my techno today in good winds.
At first i was really worried. Every time i would go into a flare the nose would turn to the left, then Id pull to get into my fades and all i would get was wingwraps.
this went on for about an hour, I can nail these on my pyroxs.
So on the way home I told the lady to stop by a different field ( hoping for the best here)
At first the same kept happening, dive, slack to flare and the nose would turn a little. then pull to flare and wingwrap.
I was about to give up and think my kite was faulty when i finally got a fade..tried again fade.. tried again flick flacks!
so to me this kite feels completely different than the pyro xs im used to, maybe even a little harder to fade with for me... for now.
I came to the conclusion there is nothing wrong with the kite, it was me that was broken
I did snap stalls on the techno. I have been struggling with these with all my other kites, on the techno they were easy for me.
I also did the best rising fade ive ever done.
I need some major practice on this kite, but i believe it is easily going to be my favorite!
I flew till after dark and the kite looked awesome against the orange oklahoma sunset
This kite will make me a better flyer!
(Dodd have you ever known the techno to do that? turn to the left in flares and fades?) _________________ Chris Christian

I think its a matter of learning the kite, developing your style with it, and check your line lengths.
Congrats on getting your Techno and best wishes

its definitely the lines chris..dont worry.. i could guarantee you if you lay out your lays, stack it at one end you will see they will be off by about an inch or two. thats why when you go into a flare-fade the kite goes completely uneven..happens to me all the time....after a long time you get use to it and you learn how to counter-attack this issue. i should go out here in afew and check ALL my lines if they're even..havent done so in many months and I KNOW they're uneven lol. so where the pictures chris? _________________ http://community.webshots.com/user/ed_diaz1497 |

nope, the lines are perfect i used 2 sets yesterday and one set I had to adjust a little, i was thinking it was the lines at first too. Im hoping i just need to get used to the kite and learn it.
ed i cant find the cord that connects my camera to the pc. ill buy another soon if i still cant find it. I look every day though. _________________ Chris Christian

If the lines are the same length, than it must be your arms
If the lines are the same and you are sure you are giving the same amount of slack with both arms into the trick, then I think you should check the bridle. The short side (if there is one) will be on your right with the kite belly up so you can see the bridle.
I would tend to think that an adjustment is needed somewhere since you were able to do the trick nicely on the Pyro xs, but on this kite you had to learn to compensate for something.
If the winds were too good that day and you chose to do the trick on the outer edge of the window, your kite might have been affected by the wind.
The strange left could be explained easily if you picked the same side and spot every time.
I hope this helps. _________________ Mario de Angelis

dont forget!!!! just cause you can pull it off on the Pyro XS and you cant on the techno doesnt mean anything..you have to get use to the kite(techno) it happens TRUST ME lol..
for example rigth now currently im flying the big bang and trying to get use to that crazy kite!..i can pull off cascades on ALLLLL my other kites EXCEPT!! for the big bang..it simply refused to do a cascade for me! and im having a really hard time with it..solution? i just need time to understand what kind of input it requires. so take your time and good luck! if all else fails ALWAYS go back to step1 of Dodds DVD and go back to the basics. _________________ http://community.webshots.com/user/ed_diaz1497 |

Well there are kites that will meet you half way and kites that require you to learn all of the correct inputs (down to a split hair). The Big Bang is an extream kite. Everyone can fly it, but not if they think they can just pick it up and fly it as if it were any other kite.
Some of the complaints I have read about the BB have been as stupid as the ones I've heard from single line pilots who just bought a sport kite and can't fly it.
It's hard to believe, but not everyone understands that trial and error is one of the best ways to learn. I think that's why Dodd dose what he can to make all of his kites so "bullet proof".
Well with all of that said I'll try and get to the point. I really can't believe that the Techno has a lealning curve also, but I just don't have the money to prove my own point right now... LOL. _________________ Mario de Angelis
