original post from NTK boards:
So i FINALLY!!! got a Big Bang(woohoo!!!!! can ya see the smile? lol) and i have afew questions.
1. how far should the lower spreader outter standoff connectors be from the leading edge connector?
2. is there any way to make the kite alittle less pitchy lol, maybe moving the tow point up or down? or something else?
3. i had the towpoint 1/2 inch up cause the winds where 3-4mph and i was still having abit of a hard time keeping the kite in the air(no weights), how much more should i move the towpoint up in those winds? any other way of making it easier to fly in lower winds?
4. what kind of input does it take to do cascades? i use the same method with all my other kites but the BB doesnt seem to like it lol.
of course i need alot more time on this kite since i only flew it today for about an hour or so. ok last question.
5. can someone show me a pic of how the wingtip tensioner and leechline are suppose to go with that rubber nock on????
Ok I think thats about it(for now lol). Thanks!

HI Ed,
Nice to see you have a BB!
First, move all 3 wieghts to just below the center T and try it.
If it is still too pitchy, remove them.
Best Wishes Dodd |

ALSO.......Ed, glad you finaly got it. But......Chris??? James??? I had just ordered a set of lower spreaders for this kite to send it to Ed, apparently one of the lower spreaders only had 2 stand off connectors instead of 3. I dont suppose we can get him another?? Bill me if you need to. I should have checked before I sent it. My bad.... _________________ ken

ooh so thats what happened Ken. its no big deal i was going to give a call to NTK and see if they can send me a connector or two. but an extra lower spreader wouldnt hurt LOL.
Thanks Dodd i'll try it with the weights on, i was flying it with all the weights off but again im not used to it...its a very different kite i never flown anything like this before. _________________ http://community.webshots.com/user/ed_diaz1497 |

In talking to some of my friends this past weekend, most say about the same thing, wieghted kites and kites designed for this including all of the poplular ones, and I can say the expensive ones, take time to learn.
This past weekend I flew a few kites that some of fliers are really doing well with and I have to tell you by spending only 10 minutes which many did on my FC, I found I didnt like them at all! They take time to learn, and 10 minutes doesnt do it. Even an hour.
If I were to buy a Machine today, it would take me about 5 months to learn it. A flew an Xmasque this weekend, I was terrible with it, but, I know that if I put the time that the owner of it had on it, I could do just as good and enjoy it.
Same with the Big Bang, French Connection, they take time to learn, but once you learn that style, you will really enjoy the kite.
Best Wishes

(i think honeslty im going to go back to basics with this kite lol and work up again, its "that different") but man do i ever love the look of it and feel. _________________ http://community.webshots.com/user/ed_diaz1497 |

With my #88 Big Bang finally returned by the Helsinki Kite Mafia and introduced to the Pro I had a chance to compare the two close up and I have a request based on this comparison:
could we please have a definitive set of numbers on distances/lengths so we can blueprint out kites to the original manufacturer specs. ? I know that the BB is meant to be played with, tweaked and flavoured to suit but once we've all comprehensively put everything out of whack (or "experimented" as I like to say ) it would be good to put it all back to a known baseline.
I thought my two kites were pretty much set up the same but some slight differences in spreader (both upper and lower) position lead to quite obvious changes in, for instance, the leading edge profile.
Ta muchly,
Mike. |
