I've been trick flying for a while and want to get a nice low/zero wind kite. A few questions:
Is it truly a zero wind/indoor kite?
Is it fully trickable?
Is it relatively durable, for an ultralight?

The Desire UL uses a simple but effective all 4mm Carbon frame, no fancy spars in this one, but for a kite of its size, we are impressed with its ability to handle much stronger winds than it is intended for.
It can be tricked, but thats not is true purpose which is a real ultra light, one that you can fly at even a lower skill level in low winds. I didnt design it to be a real trickster, I designed it to be a good inexpensive UL and that it is.
Is it truely an indoor kite? well, you can fly it, not many fly full size kites indoors, but I haved flown it many times indoors.

What kinds of tricks can you do with it? Probably depends on your flying skill I bet! Thanks for the reply though, sounds like a nice indoor/low wind kite. I'll think about buying that one, as it is the cheapest one I've found so far!

I'm pretty new at dual-line sport kites and know very few if any tricks. Just got a DesireUL last week and LOVE it I've been lucky with winds lately of 0.5 - 6 mph but mostly around 2-3 mph and am having a blast with it. I'm finely able to do snap-stalls and snap-stall landings and tip stands and a few spin-stall slides. This kite is very smooth, stable and precise for me. Any input I give it I get positive feedback from it and can tell easier what I need to do or not do or work on. I've been flying it on 50#/75 ft. Shanti lines and it seems like a great combo for me at these lower wind speeds.
Had some gust around 8 with it and it really did feel like my New Jam does in around 12 mph winds. Very similar characteristics...Dodd said it his New JamUL...
Anyway it's a great kite and I'm really enjoying it alot and am now looking forward to the lower wind speeds that would send me home before

OK good, then it's not just me! Everything's in slow motion with this kite, it's to be flown just for the pure joy of flying, although it will do some of the tricks very nicely if you work with it a little. It's nice to be able to keep going when the winds drop (and they do!). Thanks for the clarification, Dodd. |
