I don't know if this is going to do anybody any good but I found a good way to assemble the air-yo. After you get the frame together use clothes pins to hold the sail to the frame. I use about a dozen pins or so and when I have it all clipped on, all you have to do is pull your leach lines tight take off the clips, attach your line and it's flying time! I waited for the air-yo for nine months and the day before one of the last fly ins last september I finally got it and then spent the next 45 minutes fighting it to get it together(read the directions much?) before I tried using the clothes pins I have'nt looked back since |

Hi Lilly,
the new ones got a upgrade with 6 small velcro patches arround. Doesn't need longer than 2min to put my Air-Yo together.

that simplifies the whole deal of trying to assemble the thing. I can have mine together now in about the same amount of time, it just took awhile to get the swing of it. So what do you do when there's too little wind to fly and too much wind for the air-yo? _________________ restless wind |

I've been using the cloths pin trick since the air-yo first came out, and they have always worked like a charm. Thank goodness NTK improved upon the Yo and added the velcro tabs. _________________ Troy Gunn - TKO Sport Kite Team - USA

With practice you can fly an Air-YO in light wind. There are a few skills that once learned can have you Air-YOing like mad in even gusty, choppy breezes. The trick is to learn to pull down with the wand when the YO is above your head. The Air-YO behaves in a manor similar to a flick flack - you can make it rise above your head with quick steady pulls at the right time. When you pull down, the edge of the ring pointed towards the ground raises up toward the sky...Do this repeatedly and see what happens...

hey that's a pretty novel idea! I havent gotten the swing of keeping it under controll in wind yet. any other pointers? I have a hard time keeping the air-yo horizontal at times. Is there anything I can do to correct that other than landing and trying again? also, I have heard about a skid guard to protect it when playing over pavement, any idea where I can get one of those? _________________ restless wind |

Practice...

Pull down as necessary. Pull down and the leading edge of the ring pointed towards the ground raises toward the sky.

They are not necessary. The leading edge will hold up fine in most all cases. If you must have one, slit some vinyl tubing and slide onto the leading edge. CAUTION: This will significant weight. _________________ "Fly a kite for a child and you entertain them for the day. Teach a child to fly a kite and you entertain them for life." |
