June17, 2006 at Trinity Park

Dallas, TX, March 9, 2006 — LifeNet, the leading provider of comprehensive services for children and adults who are homeless and mentally ill, announced today that the annual Kite Festival, Up & Away Day, will be held June 17, 2006, from 10 am – 4 pm, at the Trinity River Greenbelt Park, 3700 Sylvan Avenue. Up & Away Day will host Dallas area children and families for a day of family fun and kite flying.

This year’s event, endorsed by the American Kiteflier’s Association (AKA), will host the World’s Largest Kite and will feature AKA kite member presentations under the direction of Gayle Woodal, Regional Director. In addition, local schools are invited to come and compete for $5000.00 in grant money. Grand Marshall Warren Harris will announce and coordinate music for the event. Free Kites, Kite making and flying competitions, prizes, concessions, games and activities, food, face painting, music and more will draw thousands of local families in attendance.

“We are excited to host the Kite Festival again this year,” said Linda Prosser, Director of Development & Community Relations for LifeNet. “Last year’s event was a huge success and we are looking forward to the summer event. This ‘gift to the city’ will provide a day of joy for underprivileged children and families and offer a wonderful venue for all families in the Metroplex Area. Proceeds from this event will support education and mental health services for underprivileged children.”

LifeNet is currently seeking corporate sponsors, vendors, entertainers and volunteers to help support this event. For questions regarding Up& Away Day please call 214-932-1964, email trobison@lifenettexas.org, or visit www.lifenettexas.org.

Does anyone have an address or cross streets so I can use online driving directions to figure out where this is? I can't see to find it online...

Don't hold this against me... but... on the lifenetkite.org page I just read the press release about the date change, and they list an address on that document. A few of the other pages I found online about this park keep mentioning an area near O'Connor and 365/Irving Blvd... but Yahoo maps says that doesn't exist...

LifeNet emailed me back, and this is infact the address of the event. I know the satellite pics online aren't up-to-date, and I know that area has had a lot of new construction in the past few years.
