- I bought another Dodd's kite. The Big Bang (Unflown demo kite from GWTW forum Very Happy ). Received 3 days ago, but no chance to fly coz of rain... Since this is the demo kite, it come with no lineset and manual. This BB has very interesting bridle(for me), but don't know how to adjust for different wind range. Could anyone help please...
- And the inner and middle standoff rods on both side are not equal length. I mean, there are 4 of the standoff rods, 3 of them have same length. One of them shorted 4mm, is that alright? Inner standoff longer or middle one? Someone help please...
- I think they lost the o-ring for upper spreader, would it effect flight ability if fly without that o-ring? Help please...
-----------------------------------------------------------
- I am thinking of buy another Do..Dodd... The New Jam! Read many good comments about it. I think I am infected Dodd's kite bug... Since I already have very fun and tricky one like FC and Techno, I couldn't feel enough... Arrrh!
- Few questions for New Jam, could this New Jam break down for travel? I mean is it collapsible? Could it yoyo? And is it bridle same as BB?
-----------------------------------------------------------
- Last question, when or any new Dodd's kite release in near future?

Th.. Thanks. Nice breeze.
Eric

i too just got a demo {Big Bang Pro} kite from a store in NH , the upper spreder didn't have the o ring, i ask the owner about it and he gave one anyway , the spine comes in 2 section one large and a small about 4inch lenght, the small pice slides into the other, it 2 o rings for 3 small wights that came with it {VBS system} you can fly without it, the center spreader are large size , it has 3 stand-offs on them an they two slide into each other in the center tee, for the manual it was the same as my pyro xs kite , i was missing was air brake winscreens ??, and covers for tip of the kite , you will need to buy 150#x100' spectra line w/staps and winder, i too got to wait for this rain to stop here in MA

Hi inkslinger, you are lucky that your demo BB pro come with weight kit(Variable Balance Weight System - VBS). Mine have no weight kit. And yours have the spine that split into 2 sections, this would be easy for remove and install the weight kit without disassemble the all kite. That design is same as my FC. Mine is only one piece of rods. Last night I was sat in front of my demo BB for an hour to figure out the best way to put the bronze ring(I made it myself, same weight and size as my FC) into the spine. Now you have switch on the light bulb in my head, cut the spine 4" from tail and insert a ferrule. I'm going to do this on my Techno, BUT not the BB. This morning I just downloaded Big Bang Instructions (that Dodd has wrote) from NTK website in Adobe PDF format. And found that my BB is the newest design, one piece spine. I'll follow what Dodd said in that instructions, fly my BB first and decide if weights are desired. Still no luck to fly today, rain... why there is rain everywhere...!? @^%#*!
The o-ring for upper spreader, I think I could find it in hardware store. Just wonder any effect flying without it?
And still no clue with the bridle adjustment... who is Andy Wardely...?

inkslinger, could you measure your BB Pro standoff rods please? Help me find out which standoff rods are longer and shorter, inner standoff longer or middle? I believe standard BB and BB pro are completely the same except the sail quality, ripstop nylon vs ripstop polyester and mylar. (Wanna get BB pro too, but no more production... polyester would be light... Hey inkslinger, is yours wanna sell? )

Someone answer my New Jam questions, please?
"Could New Jam break down to shorter length for travel? I mean is it collapsible? Could it yoyo? Is it bridle same as BB?"

Thanks and Good wind.
Eric

Mine would break down to the length of the spine if you remove the (long) lower leading edges, which isn't difficult. Some other post (here somewhere?) said that later 'Jams come with even leading edges, in which case the whole thing would be that size (under a metre long) normally folded.

It can yoyo; I've done it once, having had it six months or so. But I don't think it's a pitchy kite if video evidence of other kites is anything to go by. It doesn't come with yoyo stoppers.

Bridle; dunno. It comes with a Andy Wardly active bridle, rather than a simple three point.

Thanks Slow dog, I should do some search before asking. Found the useful info from Mr. Chris here https://newtechkites.com/NTKBB/viewtopic.php?t=249&highlight=jam

I asked this because I tried to buy a New Jam(brand new) from eBay last month, but the seller couldn't send to my country coz of his New Jam can not break down...? Old style? Weird... as Chris info the longest length of spar is 38.2", and USPS maximum length to my country is 42"... I have bought 7 stunt kite from this seller and only New Jam could not send..??

Thanks again for the info slow dog.

Smooth wind, happy tricking
Eric

Either they have a early model with a different leading edge spar size (possible) or they did not take the time or effort to collapse the leading edge.

so I would never get a New Jam

I found the answer for BB standoff question myself Info from Dodd's post here. All inside and centre standoff spars are same lenght at 24cm. And mine is 3 of them are 23.6cm and the last one is 23.2cm... .... Never mind, just ordered a bulk of carbon spars on the way. I'll replace it myself... #%@&! never again buy the demo kite!

Nice breeze.
